Angela's 1972 Chevelle
When you walk up and find some of these classic cars in todays time, it’s rare to find one that’s affordable and still in good enough shape to turn into a beauty like the 1972 Chevelle that Angela and Jim Perry own.
Jim had a co-worker that told him his son had wrecked his car and didn’t want to work on it. Jim asked him what it was and after he was told, a price came out and Jim shook his hand, had Angela go to the bank and they took it home. The car had the left front fender and right quarter panel damaged, but after some checking, there was no frame damage, they parked with their other seven cars. The car sat for two years while Jim was racing.
After Jim quit racing they had a short conversation on which car they needed to fix up, deciding on the Chevelle.
Angela went to work on the body work, doing all of it herself, including the paint. The beautiful lightning bolts paint is not only on the sides of the car, but on the valve covers and air cleaner under the hood. This car brings people to look at it wherever it goes because of this paint job and the design of the car. It’s a true fact that not only men can work on a classic and turn it into a beauty. The car has been finished and showing now for fourteen years.
The paint and body work took eighteen months for Angela to complete and now it’s a driving car, not a trailer queen. When they moved from California to Arizona, the car was driver here for its new home. Angela even signed the back quarter panel with the air brush as a friendly reminder of who did the wonderful work.
Not only is the car a great piece of eye candy, it also has a great small block Chevy engine that runs fantastic, and a beautiful interior.
Our classic cars always tell a story, and this beautiful car has one of the stories that is fun to tell. Thank you Angela and Jim for putting this 1972 Chevelle back to the great design it was originally meant to have.
