Interactive Walking Tour In Historic Downtown Kingman
So you decided to take that trip through history and check out the famous old highway known as Route 66. As the old song goes - you didn’t forget Winona, and now you’re in Kingman. Take a day to "get your kicks" on this part of Route 66 to see - and hear - about the rich history of this area.
We are talking about the new Kingman self guided walking tour, by Kingman Tours and hosted by “Mr. Route 66” Jim Hinckley.
Kingman Tours with Jim Hinckley is an interactive, self-guided tour of significant sites along Route 66 and in historic downtown Kingman, Arizona – all beginning with a life-sized bronze sculpture of Mr. Hinckley himself.
Kingman Main Street commissioned Arizona-based J. Anne Butler, an experienced figurative bronze sculptor, to create the likeness of Mr. Hinckley at the historic Kingman Train Depot at 4th Street and Andy Devine. Jim Hinckley is an internationally acclaimed author, historian, and tour guide specializing in Route 66 based right here in Kingman, Arizona. He has authored over 20 books.
Jim’s presentations about Route 66, road trips and American history have been made at events throughout the United States as well as in Europe. He has also developed a series of community education programs about Route 66 and related tourism, the economic impact on communities and how to utilize Route 66 tourism as a catalyst for historic district revitalization.
