Lyle's Tow Truck
Certainly, one of the most interesting “classic” vehicles we have here in Kingman is Lyle and Jen Scott’s unusual tow truck they purchased back in October 2024. They acquired the truck from an owner in Lake Havasu and brought it back to Kingman for a makeover.
When Lyle got the truck back to his shop, he found what he called a mess. Going to work on a truck that was originally used in Idaho as a logging truck, and then moved to Montana, where it sat was a true love for a cool ending, was a true task. Lyle said he wanted to hurry on the truck so that he could show it around Kingman with the Pharoah’s and other clubs. It gets a lot of people gathering around it to look as Lyle drives it all over town, to stores, gas stations and other places.
He built a new towing operation in the back with new parts throughout and also had to build a grill, bumper, and several different parts to make the truck work as a show “rat” truck look. Making the grill was a passion to make it look like an eighteen-wheeler, which worked out very well.
The truck sports a 302 cubic inch Ford engine with a Ford transmission as well. He even added several license plates inside the interior, including a special plate that I had on my vehicle “racvoic”, which stands for “race voice” because of me being a race announcer.
When Lyle shows up to our shows around town, take a look at this really cool build that he has added to our classic cars in Kingman. It’s a great story from a former short track racer and a real enthusiastic builder.
